Mr. Marchese and students gathered for the first Art Club meeting on November 7th. Since it was the first meeting of the year, we went over the initiatives of the Art Club. These initiatives include raising money for the art program by painting ceiling tiles for teachers to purchase, painting a mural for the AVID program, and retouching the baseball field scoreboard.
For the first meeting, students picked out famous artworks to make renditions of on the ceiling tiles. Students separated into groups to work on ceiling tiles, such as one group of students who expressed interest in doing a Renaissance-era painting and are now working on the rendition of “Fallen Angel” by Alexandre Cabanel.
So why do students go to Art Club in the first place? Students go to Art Club to explore the arts and have a place to relax. When asked “What do you think of Art Club?” Miralis Semey stated, “I love it! It’s the perfect reason for me to stay after school.” Art Club has the perfect environment to facilitate creativity. Students are able to work in various mediums of their choosing like ceramics, collages, paintings, photography, and more.
If you’re a student interested in joining the Art Club, join us in Mr. Marchese’s room on Tuesdays from 2:30 to 4:30 and come check it out!
