The Mount Pleasant football team played their last away game on November 3 at the Abessinio Stadium. Despite losing 48-27 to Howard High School of Technology, the attending students all agreed that Mount beat Howard in school pride! The game was a neon theme to celebrate the end of the season and plenty of students came out in bright colors and face paint to support the team.
Some of the game highlights were the 59-yard touchdown run by Naim Dudley, as well as the 72-yard touchdown pass which was caught by Stephen Clark! Also, Kevin Williams had an impressive punt block, and Jahkai Gray’s interception was another highlight. In total, Mount had 300 rushing yards against Howard.
The Mount Pleasant marching band and cheerleaders also put on a great show during halftime and throughout the game. Cheerleaders led the crowd in chants to hype up the spirit, and the marching band put on an impressive and entertaining performance with a variety of songs including closing out with the classic Sweet Caroline, which much of the crowd sang along to.
The last football game of the season is a home game on November 11 at noon against Odessa. It is the senior recognition game and will be called live by students on the MPHS radio station, Super 91.7 WMPH!
